🌯 Sesame Ginger Mozzarella Wrap

Serves: 1
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 5–7 minutes
Total: About 10–12 minutes

Ingredients

For the wrap:

  • 1 large tortilla or flatbread
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup thinly sliced cabbage or lettuce
  • ¼ cup grated carrot
  • ¼ cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 2–3 tbsp cooked chicken, if desired
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp oil

For the sesame-ginger sauce:

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp honey or sugar
  • ½–1 tsp freshly grated ginger
  • ½ tsp rice vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • A pinch of chili flakes, optional

Step-by-step

1. Make the sauce
Add soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, grated ginger, rice vinegar, garlic, and chili flakes to a small bowl. Mix well until the honey dissolves.

2. Prepare the vegetables
Thinly slice the cabbage, carrot, and cucumber. Keeping everything thin makes the wrap easier to roll and gives it a nice crunchy texture.

3. Add the sauce
Put the vegetables in a bowl and toss them with about 1 tablespoon of the sesame-ginger sauce. Don’t add too much sauce or the tortilla can become soggy.

4. Warm the tortilla
Heat a dry pan over medium heat. Place the tortilla in the pan for about 20–30 seconds per side, just until warm and flexible.

5. Add the mozzarella
Lay the warm tortilla flat and sprinkle the mozzarella over the center, leaving about 1–2 inches around the edges.

6. Add chicken, if using
Place the cooked chicken over the mozzarella. You can skip this completely for a vegetarian wrap.

7. Add the crunchy vegetables
Pile the sesame-ginger vegetables on top of the cheese and chicken.

8. Add sesame seeds
Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the filling.

9. Melt the mozzarella
Fold the sides of the tortilla slightly inward. Roll it tightly from the bottom. Place the wrap seam-side down in the pan and cook for 1–2 minutes per side over medium-low heat. This warms the filling and melts the mozzarella.

10. Slice and serve
Remove from the pan, let it sit for about 1 minute, then cut it diagonally in half. Drizzle with a little extra sesame-ginger sauce if you like.

✨ Easy variations

  • Spicy: Add sriracha or extra chili flakes.
  • Creamy: Mix 1 tbsp mayonnaise with some of the sesame-ginger sauce.
  • Vegetarian: Skip the chicken and add bell pepper, avocado, or sautéed mushrooms.
  • Extra protein: Add scrambled egg, tofu, or grilled chicken.
  • Extra cheesy: Use mozzarella + a little cheddar.
  • Fresh: Add spring onions and fresh coriander/cilantro before rolling.

The key trick: keep the vegetables crunchy, use only a little sauce inside, and toast the finished wrap seam-side down so the mozzarella melts without making the tortilla soggy.
